"The humans have forgotten us..."
"They poison their world and murder each other in cold blood. We diminish, brother..."
"The humans will destroy our world if they ruin theirs. We must stop them."
"And how? They've long left their Gods behind them. They have outgrown us."
"We shall send floods! Remind them of our power!"
"We shall send ash to open their eyes."
"We shall shroud them in darkness.. let them long for the light."
"Dry up their soil- kill their crops! See how they survive without our love..."
"Send storms to throw over their shelter, their lives will be ours!"
"Enough! ...If our power no longer intimidates them, we shall send our voices to Earth and with great warning herd the humans back into line. They will understand what it is they are doing... we may have diminished, but we will not die. We will never die.
I shall send Vallo, Warrior of Light, Guardian of the Sun."
"I shall send Boden, Warrior of Soil and Stone, Guardian of Earth."
"I shall send Det, Warrior of Water, Guardian of the Ocean and Sea."
"I shall send Aska, Warrior of Ash, Guardian of Fire."
"I shall send Tamsa, Warrior of Shadow, Guardian of the Moon."
"I shall send Vitr, Warrior of Wind, Guardian of the Storm."
The elements of Earth were once revered as Gods. Their energy held power and the magic of them was legendary to humans. In the early centuries, these God-like elements interfered little in the trivial pursuits of human life save for mischievous pranks or out of bored curiosity. As the world turned, humans forgot about the Elemental Gods. Things slowly descended into chaos and anarchy. The watchful eyes of the Elemental Gods gazed upon human life and the Wind whispered to the Earth. The Earth spoke freely with Fire. Fire relayed concern to Water. The Sun and Moon watched one another in passing and grew weary of Man's failings. Their pollution poisoned their planet. Their egos, petty wars, and new religions diminished the spirit of the Gods and they became weak.
Agreeing that a shift needed to happen, the Gods decided that intervening was necessary. Guardians were composed by the Gods. The Wind, Soil, Water, Fire, Light, and Dark worked together (despite their history to, at times, clash) and created six Guardians to shift the balance and protect the Earth. Eons passed and the Gods became quiet. Focus on the Guardians' goals became skewed. Were they placed upon the earth to protect the people or simply the Earth herself?
Now, rumours are being spread: Half of the Guardians believe that the answer is to eradicate all humanity. Cleanse the Earth and begin anew. The other half of the Guardians believe in protecting humanity. Humans are caught in the cross fire. Some have banded with the Guardians who call for genocide. These men and women have been promised eternal life. Other humans don't believe these promises and work to protect themselves from eradication.
The Guardians, having physical forms, are worshipped by many as the real Gods of Earth (rather than the Elements) and have many followers.
Magic in the world is common. Many humans are descendants of the Guardians themselves and as such, hone their elemental magic for either helping others, or wiping others out.
A great war is brewing. With which Guardian do you walk? Will you help your fellow man along side Vallo, Boden, and Tamsa , or will you run him through and end his life for Aska, Det, and Vitr?
This is an idea I've been working on for a little while and I'm hoping I've worded it decently enough for people to understand. Anyway, this is a basic interest check to see if anyone would be into starting this up.
This version of "Earth" would not be as ours is. The continents are (more or less) in a Pangaea-like state. Advancement in the human race has been made over millennia but technology has not progressed passed steam-power. While this is a pure fantasy setting, the races are limited to humans and demigods who may be descendants of the the Guardians themselves (think like Greek myths, the Guardians are millions of years old and mac it up with some people to have children). Bear in mind, it's been centuries so, the demigod bloodlines would be diluted (if you're thinking of going that route over just a regular human).
If you decided to create a Demigod character they may only hold ONE elemental power. For example, if your character's father is an Earth demigod, who shacked up with a water demigoddess or even the Water Guardian herself (let's assume, for the sake of this example only, that it's a woman), your character would only be able to have dominion over EARTH magic or WATER magic. You may NOT possess both elements as power. The more diluted the bloodline, the more limited access you have to elemental power. Pure humans are entirely non-magical.
For the time being, I don't think I'll be allowing people to play the Guardians themselves; however, this can be discussed!
This idea has room to GROW. If I get enough interest, suggestions are more than welcomed.
