DRATIS CITY
Many of you are familiar with Dratis City, or the Dratis Institute for the Criminally Insane. This RP will be yet another gritty, modern story told within the dismal city.
Dratis has an infamously high crime rate. Primary criminal activity revolves around drug and sex trafficking.
There are three major crime organizations*:
• 14K Triad (based out of Hong Kong and active internationally. They operate primarily throughout the western parts of Dratis)
• The Bratva or Russian Mafia (based originally out of Moscow the Mafia is internationally active throughout almost every continent. They operate primarily throughout the northern parts of Dratis)
• The American Mafia (comprised of a number of active families, it is not documented which families specifically make up the Mafia in Dratis. They operate primarily throughout the eastern parts of Dratis)
*This does NOT include cybercrime syndicates and minor crime syndicates and gangs
The Dratis City Police Department is comprised of over 40 precincts throughout the city (and its outskirts). The majority of the officers who are employed are corrupt. They are easily bought off and it is rare that they will risk themselves in duty or in the face of a crime syndicate. There are often a number of officers who get prosecuted within rings of crime. That being said, there are a handful of good cops who genuinely want to help and wish to see a change in Dratis’s reputation.
In the same vein the district attorney’s office has only a select few willing to put themselves out on a limb in the name of good morals and the law.
The mayor (an open role to be played if desired) is a genuine woman. She wants the best for the city but feels as though her hands are tied in many matters.
Notes about creating characters:
This is a strictly modern RP (i.e. no fantasy characters would be permitted) and character types accepted are anything that would fit within the city. Crime-lords, petty thieves, prostitutes, businessmen/women, single moms affected by crime in their area, street kids... pretty much anything your lovely mind can come up with!
I would also like to note that while creating your character and through the duration of the RP please keep in mind modern law. If your character is a crime lord, just as in fantasy RP, they can NOT be too OP. If they have a readily available abundance of weapons, drugs, etc., there NEEDS to be a sufficient explanation that supports things like why the government WOULDN'T be after them. (Because if you own 30 rocket launchers, someone may have some questions about that outside of the city).
There will be no character limit to the RP. Feel free to make as many as you feel comfortable playing. Supporting characters don't need a character sheet posted, but if you plan on playing a character for a significant amount of time, then post a character sheet so we can have some reference for them.
Notes about posts and interaction:
There is no posting order and no requirement for length. The only thing that is generally expected is that you respect others. General RP etiquette applies. If there are any problems with players, please, let's be adult about it and try to settle it maturely.
It should be noted that this is a dark RP. I'm not going to rate the RP, but I have no qualms about there being heavy adult content, racism, sexism, things like that. There may be some SHITTY characters, guys, if you're easily offended, I would advise against joining. I'd like to stress that these characters who are morally corrupt are simply character creations and do NOT (or at least one would hope) reflect their player in anyway.
