"Welcome, stranger, to Lockdale Woods! You'll find that the people here are happy and the suns always shining bright. There's little to nothing to complain about: a small and quiet town where everyone knows everyone and their mother. It's the perfect place to vacation with you and your family, or perhaps it could even be your new home. There are plenty of places your your young'uns to gather around and socialize, whether it be at our newly constructed park or our centuries old lake. For our couples out there we have an assortment of fine dining restaurants and movie nights in the park, so you and your sweetheart can have a grand old time! It's just a perfect little slice of heaven here!"
"This is just the safest place I've ever known. Our police force is dedicated, hard working, and honest. They take their jobs very seriously and are sworn to protect the citizens and visitors of our lovely little town. They're always out and about, patrolling the streets to make sure nothin' will happen to our dear friends and family. As a matter of fact the only deaths out here are from the usual old age or from the occasional hunting accidents, those poor souls. If you're asking for my opinion, this is just the best community on the planet! I sure hope you'll be staying with us for a spell."
"Oh- what's that? I'm sorry but the sheriff is a bit too busy to be questioned right now. I'm his deputy Mr. Mike Chandler, and I can assure you just as good as our ol' sheriff that this is just a splendid little town we've got here. Why, I've lived here all my life and I can't say that we've ever really had a major problem. There's the occasional drunk man or the kids fighting at school, but that's just alcohol and puberty. You best stick around for the next few weeks or you might miss our annual summer lake party festival. We've got fun for everyone 'round here."
"Of course this is the perfect place for you! It's got everything you could ever need, and the scenery is just gorgeous. [/i Me and my husband live just across the lake from here. Drop by if you get the chance, we'd love to show you around our beautiful home. It's got a great view of the lake and the town and it's just oh-so-pretty. You'd enjoy going on a yacht ride in the lake, wouldn't you? Oh! Look at me rambling on, so silly! Did I mention that my husband is a millionaire?"
As you've just heard, Lockdale Woods is a seemingly perfect place. It has the ideal small population, a community where everyone knows everyone, and plenty of things to do for entertainment. During the summer you and your kids can enjoy many of the different festivals and parties available, and when fall time starts you'll send them to the up-to-date school where they will receive a good education while you have some free time to yourself. Indeed, this place seems to have anything you can think of: from lakeside picnics to frolicking with ponies in the field. What you don't know, however, is that even small towns have sins.
Not everyone here is as perfect as the image they'd like to paint in your mind. From greed to murder, this town has it covered. The wealthy class in this town just keep getting richer, preying off the majority of the lower class to help inflate and swell their own wealth. They might as well be digging the graves for these poor souls as their situations just keep getting worse. Even the middle class is fluctuating, trying to find any extra work to help pay for their necessities as the town's wealth resides within the band accounts of the rich. Money is scarce in the hands of the many, and overflowing in the hands of the few. Sadly, it only gets worse.
The local police force isn't as dutiful and secure as the citizens believe it to be. Several of Lockdale's best answer to another man who isn't the sheriff, including Deputy Chandler himself. Who they answer to is a mystery to the public, as they assume he and the rest of the officers are simply doing their job. Nobody knows of the transgressions these deceiving men have committed, save for the ones who are deceiving and the man they answer to. Perhaps you will be the one to solve the mystery of the Lockdale Woods' Police Department.
Those things, however, are just the tip of the iceberg.
An anonymous drug-dealing organization has just chosen a secluded area of forest near Lockdale Woods as the perfect place to set up a pot farm. Nobody knows what this organization has done, not even the corrupted policemen. To ensure the safety of their secrets and their merchandise, the organization has chosen one of Lockdale's own to head over the security and well-being of the farm. This man's name is Xane Palmer, a young adult who heads over the town's only orphanage. The orphanage takes in older teens sent by other programs that send them there once they get too old. Once there, the orphans become a part of a work even darker than just the pot trade.
They are, of course, trained in fighting as they will become lookouts and watch over the farm. More than that, they are taught how to become stone cold serial killers.
The orphans are given the training they need to kill and get away with it without being caught. To teach them, Xane takes them on trips to the larger surrounding cities every few months to practice on real people. They do this in order to keep suspicions off of them in the town, as a murder in such a quiet town would cause a great bit of attention. In order to keep them in the orphanage, Xane offers them a permanent home their and will adopt them himself. Should an orphan refuse to join the trade, however, they mysteriously disappear. The normal excuse for this is that they run away, not being used to such a small town and different environment. There are also much more ominous ways of them disappearing, ones that are somehow covered up and never found.

"The bodies of a couple who had presumably gone hiking yesterday have been found by the lake. They appear to have been gruesomely butchered and moved from where they were originally killed. Police and citizens alike are in awe and shock as this seems to be a first for our community. Police say that this is the result of an animal who was most likely protecting it's territory. Families are advised to stay at home during the night and to not wander off too deep into the forest."

"Another report of gruesomely killed victims has just come in. This time the bodies were several teenagers who had been camping in the woods. They appear to be hacked apart like that of the couple from last month. Police have yet to give a public answer on whether or not this could be another animal attack."

(Keep in mind that the only people to currently know about these things are the ones involved. Do not automatically give your character the knowledge of these things as soon as they're made. Learn of them through the RP)
The setting of this story will be a few weeks after the death of the camping teens. The local police have decided to call in for a detective after they've come to the conclusion that these deaths were the result of possibly intended murder.
