Crescent Falls is a small town located on the outskirts of civilization. Those who live here are either born into it or drawn in by the allure of an easy-going life. Then there's the tourists: those driven to Crescent Falls to find something, anything, to validate what they already believe to be true:
That those who die here--stay here. Forever.
I mean--the internet says this place is haunted, so it has to be true, right?
---------------
Some popular venues within the town include:
The Silver Bullet
A long, sleek building located on the main road at the edge of town, bordering Lake Crescent. (owned and operated by the local werewolf pack). This facility offers travelers basic lodging accommodations, vending machines, a small laundry facility.
Located behind the reception desk is a beautiful wood carving of the moon. On the base is an inscription: sanctuary.
Lake Crescent
The lake is Crescent Falls' epicenter for outdoors recreation. Boating, fishing, hiking, camping--all found within 2,000 acres of wooded terrain. Mile markers and other signage are posted throughout the area to keep hikers safe from entering Widow's Peak. Reservations for campsites or cabin rentals can be made at The Silver Bullet Inn.
Widow's Peak
The highest point of elevation in all of Crescent Falls. Clearly visible from the road, Widow's Peak stands as a dark, jagged silhouette of treeless stone against the sky. She is the largest of three sibling hills that were gutted by dynamite and mine construction during earlier centuries when the town served mainly as the region's coal supplier.
Some people say that the wives of coal miners would throw themselves down off the Peak when a loved one died in the mines, and that's what gives the earth around the foothills its rusty red color.
Now only water plunges down from the Peak's ridges, feeding down into Lake Crescent.
Due to a vast number of abandoned mine shafts and dangerous fissures lining the hilly landscape, most of Widow's Peak is not accessible to visitors. However, there is a trail leading to the peak and several scenic stops for waterfall photos.
Down Town
Like most townships, Crescent Falls is at its liveliest at its heart. Here on Main Street, local shop-owners thrive and curiosities abound! Try the Feel free to add your own shop.
General Hospital
I bet you're not here cuz you wanna be.
Nestled just north of Down Town, Crescent Falls this small community hospital has a 500 patient maximum capacity and hosts a surgery wing, maternity ward, in-house pharmacy, and micro-cafeteria.
Covington's Brewhouse
A converted barn turned brewery makes for the perfect pit stop. The interior is a two-level build with a fully stocked bar on ground level and a more relaxed "test-testing" lounge in the loft. The brewery itself is attached to the barn, so samples never run short and 'testers' handed-out regularly. Exclusive barrels of vintage wine are offered at a premium during certain dates. Tours of the brewery are available during the spring and summer months.
Convington's is known for its smoky flavored ales and red wines. Owned and operated by three (weird) sisters who took over their father's business, the triplets pride themselves on providing the perfect pours to ease their customer's pain--for a price. How thirsty are you?

Setting: Modern(ish)
Rules:
- Character options include ghost, supernatural critter, tourist/visitor, town folk, etc.
- Play nice with others. If you want to perma-harm or kill someone's character, message them and discuss boundaries first.
- Use the thread that best reflects your current location. Because the town will have many different settings / location, I will create a separate thread per location to keep confusion/scrolling minimal between replies and make post orders more visible. If you want to relocate your character, communicate this in your post or by a marker like: [end scene] or [X leaves for Lake Crescent]. This will help partner players know who is still around.
- On that note: If you want to add a business, residence, location thread connected to this setting, simply use this title structure-- HoCF [insert thread location here] --as your thread subject.
- No min/max word count here. Be as brief or detail oriented as you like.
- No character sheet required. A brief physical description is helpful for first contact, but bios are not necessary. Some people playing ghosts or critters may want to keep information confidential until the "big reveal." That's fine. Get spooky!
- Lastly, the location descripts are kinda vague for players' benefit. The town is merely a setting. YOU make the details for adventure. Have fun!
